FLEETWOOD HOSPITAL, LANCASHIRE

The Prince’s Foundation is working with partners around the country to develop and deliver a variety of projects in celebration of His Royal Highness’ 70th Birthday in 2018

The Prince’s Foundation is working in partnership with Fleetwood Trust, who have recently agreed a long lease of the 1980s Fleetwood Hospital building from the NHS. The Outpatient’s Department remains in operation and is leased back to the NHS on a 10-year lease. The Outpatients is 25% of the building, the remainder of the building has been left derelict for the last 8 years.

The aim is to adapt and convert the building into a mixed-use community centre, delivering a number of community support services and facilities including; creative space, food hub (with community kitchen and food bank), safe space (for spiritual and mental support), health hub (to include step-down accommodation as well as rehabilitation and exercise), youth provision, community support, education & skills, business & enterprise. Although not listed, the building has iconic status in Fleetwood, being one of the largest buildings in the area and therefore a landmark.
