Nassar obtained his Ijaza in calligraphy from Hasan Çelebi in 2003 and is considered one of the top calligraphers in the Arab Islamic world today known for his efforts in reviving the Muhaqqaq script. He is currently Professor of Islamic Calligraphy and Qur’anic manuscripts at the World Islamic Sciences and Education University in Amman, Jordan. He was awarded The Artistic Creativity Award by the Arab Thought Foundation, 2018.

Nassar's artworks reflect the content and the meaning of the words and texts and demonstrate beauty and simplicity, a style he has developed over the last 25 years of practice and research. His works are not limited to ink on paper; they extend to other media like stone, ceramic, metals, wood and recently jewellery. Nassar's artworks can be found in the collections of the British Museum; Contemporary Museum of Calligraphy, Moscow; Aga Khan Museum; Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts, and in many private collections around the world. He has published books and academic papers on Islamic calligraphy in Arabic and English.
