Ahmed has always been fascinated by the significance of geometric and floral patterns in Egypt's cultural traditions. Inspired by Coptic art, Ahmed incorporated the symbol of the halo in the mirror that he produced as his final piece of the traditional arts and crafts programme. The mirror consists of inlaid wood pieces repeated in a rotational pattern; it acts as a halo for those looking into it.

In addition to the mirror, Ahmed made a small cupboard - a functional item that can be found in almost every home - with a humble traditional geometric pattern.
