Yuan Centre – The Prince’s Foundation School of Traditional Arts, China Centre

We are delighted to announce the launch of our new Centre in Suzhou, China. The programme begins next week and it offers a combination of one-year long studies and short courses in traditional arts. Studying at our centre integrates Western and Chinese arts and techniques through the understanding of the universal principles of the traditional arts.

Modules include: the language of nature in geometric patterns and floral designs; the alchemy of colour making; traditional Western and Chinese painting techniques; Chinese geomancy; Chinese calligraphy; the language of nature in design; principles of Chinese garden design; wood parquetry and inlay; the painting of the figure in the Buddhist tradition; Chinese textile patterns and weaving techniques. Tutors are masters from the School of Traditional Arts as well as from museums and prominent art institutions in China.
