Nature

“Of the unimaginably large number of planets in our universe, Earth is the only one we are sure has life. That makes our world a truly wondrous place and nature an infinitely precious thing.”

The outdoor education programmes we run at Dumfries House are based around biodiversity, ecosystems, harmony with nature, and the interdependence of nature around us.

Our activities here include bushcraft skills, building natural woodland shelters, and firelighting with the “leave no trace” approach. We also encourage teambuilding and confidence-building skills around a natural obstacle course.

The entire area around our Tamar Manoukian Residential Centre is brimming with biodiversity.

◼ The Prince's Foundation has launched a new programme of education activity to link to the publication of It's Up To Us, a children's Terra Carta. The book explains the situation our planet is in and outlines all the amazing steps children can take for a better future for our planet.
