The Princes Foundation for Building Community evolved from The Institute of Architecture which was established by HRH The Prince of Wales.

Prince Charles’ 1987 “Vision for Britain”, first presented in a dedicated BBC documentary on modern architecture in Britain, has grown into the Prince’s Foundation. Driven by a desire to create more beautiful, sustainable places to live for future generations, the charity operates across the globe.

Prince Charles has commented that “It astounds me to think that it was over twenty-five years ago that I started on the rather rough road towards what has now become my Foundation. It seemed to me then, as it does still, that the nature of our built environment has a crucial impact on our quality of life and our physical and mental well-being.”
